Original production cel from the 1990’s commercial with Vanna White.
“A small child once said to me: ‘You don’t draw Bugs Bunny, you draw pictures of Bugs Bunny.’ That’s a very profound observation because it means he thinks that the characters are alive, which, as far as I’m concerned, is true. And, I feel the same way about animation… Animation isn’t an illusion of life. It is life.” – Chuck Jones
A production cel is one-of-a-kind and used in the creation of an animated film or cartoon short. It is hand-painted and photographed over a background painting to create a frame of the production. Because one background is used under a sequence of cels, the production art is usually sold with a reproduction of the original background. A cel with an original background is very rare. The move to computerized animation severely curtailed the supply of artwork on the market.
