“You’re the arm of Cecil.”
What Lana Turner said to Stan Freberg when they were introduced at a Hollywood party.
Compromised of some of the most memorable characters is animation history, “Beany and Cecil” has been a stalwart in television programming for fifty years. Created by the venerable animator, director and producer Bob Clampett, “Beany and Cecil” first came to American audiences as a puppet show on KTLA. After garnering many awards, including three Emmys “Beany and Cecil” grew into an animated series that played on the ABC network and to this day, continues to enjoy worldwide appeal and recognition.
At the urging of his wife Sody, Clampett had Cecil sing “A Bob Clampett Cartooooooonnnn!” at the end of the main title sequence. Although Clampett had previously got some recognition for the Emmy Awards that “Time For Beany” had received in the early 1950’s, that was a local show not seen by a national audience. Now because of the cartoons, kids all over America were singing his name.
Offered for the first time in twenty years, are actual hand inked and painted production cels taken from the Beany and Cecil cartoons produced in the early 1960’s. The backgrounds are fine art giclee reproductions from the originals. This is a rare opportunity to capture actual imagery taken from one of the most beloved independently made series in cartoon history, created by a true master of the animation genre.
